RAM offers free care

Remote Area Medical (RAM) — a major non-profit provider of mobile medical clinics delivering free, high-quality, dental, vision, medical, and veterinary care to underserved and uninsured individuals — will visit Hazard on June 23 and 24. All services are free and no ID is required.

Patient parking will be located at East Perry Elementary School, 301 Perry Avenue, in Hazard. The clinic parking lot will open no later than 12 a.m. midnight on Saturday, June 23. Ticket distribution begins at 3 a.m., and patients will be seen in chronological order according to their ticket number when clinic doors open at 6 a.m. This process will repeat on Sunday, June 24.

Services available at the Hazard RAM clinic include dental cleanings, dental fillings, dental extractions, dental x-rays, eye exams, eyeglass prescriptions, eyeglasses, women’s health exams, mental health services, and general medical exams.

RAM expects to treat approximately 500 people from Hazard and surrounding communities during the two-day clinic.

RAM is still in need of additional medical professionals to volunteer their time and skills in providing care to the underserved in Hazard. There is also a signifi- cant need for general support volunteers. For more information about RAM’s mobile medical clinics or to volunteer, visit www.ramusa.org or call 865-579-1530.
