The first day of school for students enrolled in Letcher County Public Schools is Aug. 10. Letcher County Central High School’s first bell rings at 8:12 a.m.
Registration dates for LCCHS seniors are: last names starting with A-C, 8 to 11:30 a.m. on Aug. 1; last names starting with D-J, 12:30 to 3 p.m. on Aug. 1; last names starting with K-R, 8 to 11:30 a.m. on Aug. 2; and last names starting with S–Z, 12:30 to 3 p.m. on Aug. 2.
Registration for LCCHS juniors is scheduled for 8 to 11:30 a.m. on Aug. 3.
LCCHS sophomores are set to register from 12:30 to 3 p.m. on Aug. 3.
Registration for LCCHS freshmen is from 8 to noon on Aug. 4. Freshmen are required to attend the entire four hours and will be given tours and additional information. Buses will run on the main roads for this day only.
Students will pick up schedules, have school pictures taken, rent lockers for $5 and pick up parking permit applications.
School pictures will be taken at this time for the yearbook and Infinite Campus identification. Students will be able to order from proofs at a later date. There are no sitting fees.
All seniors are encouraged to have pictures taken that day. Casual pictures as well as formal pictures for the yearbook and newspaper with be taken. Girls are asked to bring a camisole to wear for the drape picture and boys are asked to bring a plain white t-shirt to wear under the tux picture.
The new photographers will be offering a special event picture opportunity the weekend of Aug. 20. Seniors will have pictures taken at various locations in Whitesburg by appointment only. Parents are encouraged to come with seniors on registration day to be present to help with scheduling times and to view examples of photos available.
