Relay for Life dinner is a success

The Relay for Life team, the Rockin’ Robins, had a chicken dinner at the Hemphill Community Center on March 16. The response from the Whitesburg and Neon areas was wonderful. We have many people to thank for its success.

First, we need to thank all the people who bought dinners from us, then all the people who volunteered to help in any way. They donated desserts, helped cook, helped clean, or delivered the dinners.

Thanks to the captain of our team, Franka Adams, and Jason Adams, Tammy and Tiffney Adams, Kathy Mullins, Jack and Jeff Sturgill and Little Man, Amanda Sturgill, Becky McFall, Hazel Alecia for all her help, Ray and Doris Adams of Blackey, Lee’s Famous Recipe Chicken, Dana Smith, Ked Sanders, Bessie Shepherd, Shelia Stewart, Jennifer Collins, Felicia Bates, and Mike and Deloris Johnson of Mike’s Drive-In at Neon. Deloris donated most of the food for the dinner, then she opened the restaurant on her only day off and helped with the cooking. We owe them a big thank you for all their help.

A business like this is who we should support which is willing to help other worthwhile events in our community. I know from personal experience what a big heart Deloris has. She is always special to my son and I appreciate it.

Thanks to you all. God will surely bless you for supporting such a worthy cause.
