Research center testing female libido drug

A Norfolk research center is seeking women to participate in a clinical trial of a drug designed to boost women’s libido.

National Clinical Research director Barry Lubin says that his center is performing two studies on the drug, one for pre-menopausal women, and the other for post-menopausal women. The Food and Drug Administration prohibits Lubin from naming the drug or the manufacturer.

In order to participate in the clinical trials, women have to report a decrease in sexual desire that isn’t associated with any known factors: personal distress, marital problems, illness, medication use, substance abuse or psychosocial factors.
