Retired teachers honored

October 19-25 has been proclaimed Kentucky Retired Teachers Appreciation Week.

“Retired teachers continue to serve their communities for many years as volunteers, tutors, substitute teachers, guides and student mentors, along with many other roles,” said Faye Shehan, president of the Kentucky Retired Teachers Association.

Letcher County is home to more than 200 retired teachers who continue to have an educational and economic impact on the area. In Letcher County, retired teachers are invited to meet for breakfast at Pine Mountain Grill at 9 a.m., Monday, October 20.
