Review: Guitar Hero 3 (Legends of Rock)

Guitar Hero 3 is one rockin’ game! This latest addition to the series lives up to its name even though it did change developers. This game has supplied even more rocking songs from “Paint It Black” from the Rolling Stones to “Slow Ride” from Foghat. The version I will be reviewing of the game is the Wii version.

There are some new features to this game like being able to fully customize your Wii guitar by changing the faceplates on it. This game has also given the long-awaited ability to play others online. Online you can face off against friends or strangers in battle, pro face off, and face off. Also online you can play co-op on campaign together to rock your way to stardom.

The soundtrack on this version never fails its predecessors. The new songs include “Sunshine of Your Love” by Cream, “Bulls on Parade” by Rage Against the Machine, “The Metal” by Tenacious D, and “Hit Me with Your Best Shot” by Pat Benatar.

Another new addition to the game is guitar battles. In this you get to face off against other people or computers in playing a song. Except in this instead of star power you have battle power which lets you attack your opponents with different abilities to mess them up. Like an amp overload battle power will shake the opponents screen and make it hard to see their notes. In campaign you do guitar battles against guitar pros Slash from Guns n Roses, and Tom Morrelo from Rage Against the Machine. There is also another secret battle against someone but I can’t spoil the game for you.

Whatever type of rock you like, this game probably has it. So if you want to rock out with some friends or just go against a stranger online this is the game for you.
