Funeral services for Herman Coots, of Espanola, N.M., were held June 10. Burial was June 11 at Santa Fe National Cemetery. He died June 5.
Born in Lynch, he was a son of the late Lawrence and Ida Coots. He was also preceded in death by five brothers, Astor, Herbert, Rudolph, David and Vernon, and three sisters, Gladys, Doris and Hazel.
He was a 22-year veteran of the U.S Air Force and served in the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He retired with the rank of master sergeant and then worked for the Zia Company at the Los Alamos National Laboratory.
Surviving are his wife of 40 years, Celina Coots; a son, Richard Coots and wife Helen; two grandsons, Tyler and Jason Coots; four sisters, Gertrude, Dolois, Mary Katherine and Mabeline; and two brothers, Donald Ray and Jerry Wayne.
