James Brashears, 68, of Whitesburg, died January 26 at the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington.
A son of the late Hizzie and Cora Collins Brashears, he was a brother of the late Edly Brashears, Howard Ray Brashears, Bill Brashears, Cecil Brashears, Lou Brashears, Dixie Fields and Margie Banks.
Surviving are four daughters, Angela Jones of Hiltons, Va., Joyce Brashears of Whitesburg, Denita Caudill of Atlanta, Ga., and Jamie Hicks of Corbin; a sister, Marie Collier of Kingsport, Tenn.; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and Valerie Hall.
Funeral services for were held January 29 at the House of Prayer on Sandlick. Burial was in Brashears family cemetery at Cowan.
Letcher Funeral Home of Whitesburg had charge of arrangements.
