Billy G. Ison, 89, of Mt. Carmel, Ind., died Sunday, November 26, at the Knolls of Oxford, Ohio.
Born in Letcher County, Kentucky, he was a son of Dee and Virgie Caudill Ison and a stepson of Jonah Hogg.
He was the widower of Jean Ison, and the father of a late infant daughter, Sarah Louise Ison.
Mr. Ison was a greatgrandfather of the late Trevor Ison and the fatherin law of the late Haroline Ison, and was also preceded in death by a number of siblings.
He was a full-time farmer and was employed by Fisher Body in Fairfield until his retirement in 1980. He was very active in his church, the Little Memory Old Regular Baptist Church in Sunman, for over 54 years and served as a deacon, clerk, treasurer, and overseer of the church cemetery.
He also served as president of the Mt. Carmel Cemetery Board.
He enjoyed farming, fishing, telling stories, reading his Bible, going to church, and spending time with family and friends.
Surviving are three sons, Steve Ison of Brookville, Ind., Lambert Ison and wife Janet of West Harrison, Ind., and Robert Ison of Scipio, Ind.; two daughters, Beverly Ison of Euless, Tex., and Marilyn Ramey of West Alexandria, Oh.; two sisters, Ann Calihan of Harrison, Oh., and Lavonne Halburt of Fayetteville, N.C.; a brother, Hubert Caudill of Stokesdale, N.C.; 10 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mr. Ison were held November 29 at Cook Rosenberger Funeral Home in Brookville, Ind. Burial was in the Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Indiana.
