Bobby Gene Sturgill, 78, of Jackhorn, died September 17 at Whitesburg Appalachian Regional Hospital.
Born in Kona to the late Edgar and Rose Lucas Sturgill, he was a brother of the late Jackie Sturgill.
He had worked as a mine operator and was retired from the Southeast Coal Company. He was a member of Hemphill Church of Christ
Surviving are his wife of 59 years, Mary Johnson Sturgill; three daughters, Tammy Adams and Judy Bentley, both of Jackhorn, and Kathy Mullins, of Neon; three sons, Michael Sturgill and Jeff Sturgill, both of Jackhorn, and Jack Sturgill, of Payne Gap; 13 grandchildren, 13 greatgrandchildren and a greatgreat grandchild; and a brother, James Sturgill, of Campbranch.
Funeral services were held Sept. 19. Burial was in Green Acres Cemetery at Ermine.
