Rites held for Chalmer Gilley



Chalmer Van Gilley, 67, died September 30 at his home in Columbus, Ind.

Born in Letcher County to Lillian Banks Gilley, now of Columbus, Ind., and the late Londie Gilley, he was a brother of the late Norshel Gilley, Ricky Gilley and Jeff Gilley.

He was co-owner of NC Tool and Machine Inc., and was previously a member of Community Baptist Church, where he was a deacon.

Mr. Gilley enjoyed fishing and playing guitar.

Surviving in addition to his mother are his wife, Pam Gilley; three daughters, Brooke Gilley, Cheyenne Gilley and Summer Gilley, all of Columbus, Ind.; three brothers, Roger Gilley and wife Sondra, and Denny Gilley and wife Amber, all of Columbus, Ind., and Keith Gilley and wife Trudi, of North Vernon, Ind.; two sisters, Jill Garris and husband Tony of Elizabethtown, Ind., and Jennifer Fields and husband Danny of Columbus, Ind.; a sister-in-law, Sandy Gilley of Columbus, Ind.; and three grandchildren, Arydessa Gray, Lindel Gray and Amara Asher.

Funeral services for Mr. Gilley were held October 5 at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home in Columbus, Ind. Burial was at Freetown Valley Memorial Old Regular Baptist Church Cemetery. Memorials can be made to the American Diabetes Association in his memory.
