David Max Mullins, 68, died January 6 at Holston Valley Medical Center in Kingsport, Tenn., after a long illness.
A son of the late Henderson Herbert and Anita Jane Mullins, he was a brother of the late Ronnie Mullins and Donnie Mullins, and an infant brother and sister.
Mr. Mullins was a heavy equipment operator until his retirement.
A Viet Name War veteran of the U.S. Army, he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, the Good Conduct Medal with 3 Bronze Loops, and the Expert Rifle Medal.
He was a member of the American Legion Post in Jenkins and the Disabled American Veterans Chapter #56, where he was a lifetime member of the Commander’s Club.
Surviving are a son, David Duane Mullins of Henderson, Nev. two grandsons, Justin Andrew Mullins and Ethan Alexander Mullins; a brother, Mickey Mullins and wife Leigh of Tucson, Ariz.; two nephews, Shawn Mullins and Anthony Mullins, and two nieces, Jessica Hursala and Jennifer Hancock, all of Tucson, Ariz.
Funeral services were held January 8 in Pound, Va. Military graveside services were performed January 9 at the Mullins Cemetery in Eolia.
