Funeral services for Eli Fred Sexton, 61, were held April 2 at the Mt. Olivet Old Regular Baptist Church in Blackey. Burial was in the Sexton family cemetery in
A son of the late Lawrence Henry and Cormia Sexton, he died March 30 at his home in Letcher.
He was the father of the late Deborah Lynn Sexton, a grandfather of the late Jacob Dennis Lee Sexton, and a brother of the late Karen Sue Walters.
Surviving are his wife, Virginia Sexton; four sons, Dennis “Bowevil” Sexton and wife Tina of Richmond, Jimmy “Bruiser” Sexton and wife Stephanie of Viper, Johnnie Michael Mullins and wife Nora of Blackey, and Bobby Ray Slone and wife Ginger of Bath County; three daughters, Amanda Dawn Slone of Ohio, Diana Adams and husband Keith of Blackey, and Debra Lynn Dotson and husband Rock of Doty Creek; 23 grandchildren, Felicia, DJ, Beth, Matt, Shiloh and wife Haily, Samari, Kaleb, Jaiden, Dakota, Paisley, Tyson, Jacob, Tony Jr., Wyatt, Jeremiah, Bryan, Derrick, Katlyn and husband Brad, Renea, Reese, Bobbie Lynn, James, and Josh; 10 greatgrandchildren, Maisen, Paige, Brylee, Fynnleigh, Marlee, Hayden, Carly, Aleaha, Cole, and Taylor; six special friends, Keith Adams, Wid Back, Mert Back, Harry Whitaker, Wayne Caudill, and Terry Riddle; two brothers, Donnie Sexton and wife Vanda, and Denny “Tip” Sexton and wife Nett, all of Woodrock; and two sisters, Joyce “Sissy” Bowling and husband Chester Bowling of Woodrock, and Sue Hall and husband Donnie of Tennessee.
