Former McRoberts resident Emma Jean Barker, 90, of Harrogate, Tenn., died April 2 at Tri-State Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Born in Neon, she was a daughter of the late Tennison and Melissabell Marie Fuller Ferguson and the widow of David Merrell Barker.
She was also preceded in death by a sister, Norma Dorsey, and three brothers, James Marion Ferguson, Danny Ferguson and Donnie Ferguson.
Mrs. Barker was a lifetime member of McRoberts Missionary Baptist Church. She was also a member of the White Shrine and was involved with LKLP and many other civics organizations. She was a writer and contributor to the Community News Press for more than 50 years.
Surviving are two daughters, Merrell Jean Barker Fleming of Rutledge, Tenn., and Susan Barker Johnson and husband Bill of Hazard; a son, David Michael Barker and wife Ruth Ann of Middlesboro, Tenn.; and nine grandchildren, 15 grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
Memorial services were held April 7 at Carty Funeral Home of Neon.
