Funeral services for Frank Combs, 78, of Mount Carmel, were held February 1 in Whitesburg. Burial was in Webb Cemetery at Mayking.
Born in Seco to the late Cicero and Rebecca Ritchey Combs, he died January 31 at the University of Kentucky Hospital in Lexington.
He was a brother of the late Sue Breeding, Ann Foren, Harlan “Bus” Combs, Edward “Red” Combs, Jack Combs, Hoover Combs, Jonathan “Duke” Combs, and Harvey Combs.
He was graduated from Whitesburg High School and Henry Ford Community College in Dearborn, Mich., and had served in the 101st Airborne in the U. S. Army at Fort Campbell.
He was retired from General Motors after 31 years, and moved back to Kentucky to enjoy the University of Kentucky Wildcats.
Surviving are his wife, Marcella Cook Combs; two sons, David Matthew Combs of Columbus, Oh., and John Combs and wife Diane of Lincoln Park, Mich.; a sister, Kathleen Hall and husband Elwood of Bellaire Bluff, Fla.; five grandchildren, Tyler, Noah, Hayley and Spencer Combs, all of Columbus, Oh., and Savannah Combs of Lincoln Park, Mich.; and a great-granddaughter, Carleigh Combs.
