Freddy Harold Johnson, 60, of McRoberts, died September 30 at Whitesburg Appalachian Regional Hospital.
Born in Fleming to the late James Hillard and Emily Anderson Johnson, he was a grandson of the late Joel and Mary-Jane Johnson, and the late Cullen and Hattie Anderson.
Mr. Johnson had worked several years in the coal industry before being employed with the State of Kentucky as a mine and surface reclamation inspector, where he performed the duties of the role for 20-plus years.
He was the pastor of the Fleming-Neon Church of God for 11 years and was truly dedicated to his congregation and the people of his community.
He enjoyed camping with his family, fishing, golfing, and watching the University of Kentucky Wildcats.
Surviving are his wife of 39 years, Rhonda Collins Johnson; two sons, Ryne Johnson and wife Brittany P., and Jeramy Johnson and wife Brittany L., all of McRoberts; five grandchildren, Landon, Aubrey, Asher, Ember and Kash Johnson; his siblings, James Johnson and wife Celeste, Roy Johnson and wife Debra, Phillip Johnson and wife Marjorie, and Anita Meadors, all of McRoberts, Carlos Johnson and wife Donna of Dandridge, Tenn., Willene Land and husband Ova of Flemingsburg, Vickie Quillen and husband Danny of Whitaker, and Dennis Johnson of Riceville, Tenn.; and his in-laws, Clifford “Coopie” and Betty Collins of McRoberts.
Funeral services for Mr. Johnson were held October 5 at the Fleming-Neon Church of God.
Letcher Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.
