Rites held for Hassell Hampton


Hassell Lee Hampton, 60, of Eolia, died June 2 at the Whitesburg Appalachian Regional Hospital.

A son of Tate and Inez Brock Hampton of Eolia, he was a brother of the late Judy Branham.

He was a coal miner for nearly 30 years and enjoyed riding 4-wheelers.

Surviving in addition to his parents are his wife, Marcella Hampton; three daughters, Crystal Hampton, April Martin and husband Bradley, and Carol Syann Hampton, all of Eolia; a son, Hassell Hampton Jr., and wife Courtney of Eolia; six grandchildren, Alyssa Martin, Easton Marin, Gunner Martin, Cassie Martin, Peyton Lewis, and Paisley Sargent; three sisters, Naomi Sturgill and husband Teddy, Rachel Sturgill, and Alma York, all of Eolia; a brother, Corbin Hampton and wife Kim of Eolia; and friend, Brandon Brock.

Funeral services for Mr. Hampton were held June 4 in Pound, Virginia. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m., today (Wednesday) at the Hampton Cemetery in Eolia.
