Rites held for Jacqueline Lay


Funeral services for Jacqueline “Jackie” Lay, 84, were held August 31 at the Burdine Church of God of Prophecy. Burial was in the Craft family cemetery at Payne Gap.

A daughter of the late John C. and Nannie Holbrook Ison Craft, she was born in Jenkins. She died August 23 at her home at Payne Gap.

She was the widow of Jimmy Lay, and was also preceded in death by four sisters, Billie Frances Williams, Della Marie Moretz, Allie Presnell and Peggy Wright, and six brothers, J.P. Craft, William Lee Craft, Denver Craft and three infant brothers.

Mrs. Lay loved attending church.

She is survived by three daughters, Linda Burger, Leisa Bickers and Theresa Lay, all of Cincinnati, Ohio; two brothers, Wiley Craft of Cincinnati, Ohio, and George Ison Jr. of Russell Springs; nine grandchildren, Renee, Joey, Charlie, Ryan, Jacqueline, Tyler, Taylor, Brandon and Zachery; and two great-grandchildren, Austin, Jalyenah, Jaelynn, Izah, Brayden, Gabby, Nolan, Aiden, Rocky and Kolton.

Everidge Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.
