Rites held for James Bartram

Funeral services for James Robert Bartram, Sr., 79, of Jenkins, were held June 20 at Polly & Craft Funeral Home in Jenkins. Burial was in the Payne Gap Cemetery in Jenkins.

Born in Louisa to the late Dr. William “Jay” Johnson Bartram and Laura Ellis Bartram, he died June 15 at Letcher Manor Nursing Home in Whitesburg.

He was a stepson of the late Ova Collier, and a brother of the late Mary Hughes, Esther Ellen Adams, and Hannah Sneed, and a grandfather of the late Kimberly Adkins Clark and Jeanie Boggs.

Mr. Bartram had served in the U.S. Army, and was a member of the Emmanuel Baptist Church in Jenkins.

Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Virginia Daryl White Bartram; four sons, James Robert Bartram, Jr., and wife Lisa of Nicholasville, Kenneth R. Boggs and wife Mary Lou of Luckey, Oh., Cecil Boggs and wife Kristina of Dunham, and Cecil Boggs II and wife Autumn of Jenkins; four daughters, Theresa Napier and husband Larry of Clintwood, Va., Lisa Adkins and husband Sammy of Burdine, Bobbie Jean Bartram of Mt. Sterling, and Robin Cantrell of Jenkins; a brother, Jack Bartram and wife Emma Jean of Oregon, Oh.; a sister, Naomi Napier of Clintwood, Va.; and 15 grandchildren, and 21 great-grandchildren.
