Rites held for James Bentley

Funeral services for James “Joe” Bentley, 88, of Millstone, were held October 1 at the Millstone Missionary Baptist Church. Burial was in Green Acres Cemetery at Ermine.

Born in Millstone, a son of the late Otho and Nancy Alice Hall Bentley, he died September 28 at the Greg & Noreen Wells Hospice Center in Hazard.

He was the widower of Alma Henrickson Bentley, and was later married to Doris Gibson Bentley, who survives him.

He was also preceded in death by 18 siblings, Stella, Nettie, Atha, Laura, May, Mary, Lettie, Sabrina, Lake, Opal, Cora, Wilma, Anna Sue, Willie, D.V., John, Otho and Can.

He was U.S. Army veteran, and a member of the Millstone Missionary Baptist Church and the Whitesburg Masonic Lodge #754.

Surviving in addition to his wife are a son, Kris Bentley of Dallas, Tex.; a stepson, Tim Quillen and wife Laura of North Port, Fla.; two daughters, Debbie Kiser and husband Anthony of Lexington, and Mary Quillen of Millstone; three brothers, Jimmy Bentley of Cleveland, Oh., Freddy Bentley and wife Gracie of Vandelia, Oh., and Jerry Bentley and wife Rose of Millstone; two grandchildren, Stephen Warrick and wife Denise, and Danille Cornett and husband Curtis; and a greatgranddaughter, Madeline Warrick.
