Rites held for James Sturgill

Funeral services for James Sturgill, 62, of Kingscreek, were held August 28 at Faith Community Church in Whitesburg. Burial was in the Sturgill Cemetery at Kingscreek.

The son of the late Jackson and Genieve Turner Sturgill, he was born in Letcher County. He died August 25 at Whitesburg Appalachian Regional Hospital.

He was a member of Faith Community Church, and was a brother of the late Ida Mae Sturgill and Jackie Sturgill.

Surviving are his wife, Vertie Huff Sturgill; two daughters, Jennifer Sturgill, Leatherwood, and Katherine Sexton, Whitesburg; four sons, James Sturgill Jr., Kingscreek; Stacy Sturgill, Craft’s Colly; Charles Sturgill, Isom, and Jack Sturgill, Jenkins; a sister, Sonural Sturgill, Elizabethtown; and six grandchildren.

Everidge Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.
