Rites held for Jason Brown




Funeral services for Jason Brown, 44, of Jenkins, were held February 7 at the Neon Methodist Church. Burial was in the Thornton Cemetery.

Born in Wise, Va., to Alpha King Reynolds, now of Fancy Gap, Va., and the late Charles Douglas Brown, he died February 3 at Whitesburg Appalachian Regional Hospital.

He was a grandson of the late Rev. Jake King, a greatnephew of the late Charlie R. Brown, a nephew of the late Luna Armstrong, and a great-nephew of the late Lucinda “Ninny” Brown.

Mr. Brown enjoyed attending church and had a passion for working in gospel music.

Surviving in addition to his mother are his wife, Kelly Wright; a daughter, Regan Elizabeth Brown of Cowan; a brother, Bacchus Brown and wife Sarah of Burdine; a sister, Roxzan Brown of Walkertown, N.C. his grandmother, Jewel King of Cromona; three nephews, Joshua Puckett, Cole Brown and Connor Baker; a niece, Brook Puckett; a special cousin, Brian Hall of Mayking; two special aunts, Alice King and family of Payne Gap, and Fran Hall and family of Mayking; and a special friend, Gerald Stidham of Whitesburg.
