Jerry Lee “Root Beer” Marcum, 69, died October 30 at the Greg and Noreen Wells Hospice Center in Hazard.
Born in Whitesburg to the late Francis and Hazel Perry Adams, he was the widower of Wanda Marcum, and was later married to Katherine Marcum, who also preceded him in death, along with several brothers and sisters.
Surviving him are two sons, David Lee Marcum and wife Julie of Pikeville, and Jerry Clafford Marcum and wife Kendra of Hindman; a stepson, Billy Jent of London; a daughter, Lilly Janell Blackburn of Ermine; a stepdaughter, Dorothy Quillen and husband Larry of London; six brothers, Frank Adams and wife Jeanie, Mark Adams, Timbo Adams, and Dan “Doc” Adams and wife Betty, all of Ermine, Mike Adams and wife Joetta of Hindman, and Ronald Adams of Covington; three sisters, Diana Adams, and Pat Adams and husband Red, all of Ermine, and Linda Perry and husband John of Lexington; and fourteen grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mr. Marcum were held Nov. 1 at Kings Chapel Church in Whitco. Burial was in Bates and Perry Cemetery at Ermine.
