Rites held for Jonah Tackett

Funeral services for Jonah Solomon Tackett, 32, of Dade City, Fla., were held July 21 at the Burdine Freewill Baptist Church. Burial was in the Leitha R. Tackett Cemetery in Jenkins.

A son of James Harvey and Jan Mullins Tackett of Owingsville, he died July 12 in Hagerstown, Md.

He was a grandson of the late Juanita Mullins and James F. Tackett, and a cousin of the late Dennis Brandon Holbrook.

Born in Jenkins, he was an athlete at Jenkins High School, excelling in basketball, football, and track and field.

He was a truck driver for Tackett Holdings, LLC, and enjoyed traveling across the country.

Surviving in addition to his parents are two brothers, Jordan Tackett and wife Misty of Jenkins, and Jared Tackett and wife Mary of Farmville, Va.; a grandmother, Juanita Jean Webb Tackett of Jenkins; a grandfather, Julius Mullins of Melvin; three nephews, Koby, Reece and Cash; and seven cousins, Chris Mullins, Julius Ryan Mullins, Jonathan Mullins, Justin Holbrook and Logan, Kory Caudill and Amanda, Jacob Addison, and Trevor Addison.

Carty Funeral Home of Jenkins had charge of local arrangements.
