Funeral services for Josephine Spangler, 86, were held May 12 at the Lighthouse Church in Colson. Burial was in the Cook Cemetery at Thornton.
A daughter of the late Sydney and Mary Combs Hensley, she was born in Whitesburg. She died May 9 at the Greg and Noreen Wells Hospice Center in Hazard.
She was the widow of Ray Cook, and later married Lindsay Spangler who also preceded her in death.
Mrs. Spangler was the mother of the late Adam Jeffrey Cook, Christopher Cook, Sydney Ray Cook and Elbert Ray Cook, and a grandmother of the late Daniel Ray Cook.
Surviving are two sons, Daniel Cook of Millstone and Willie Cook of Jackhorn; three daughter, Ella Joe Cook and Mary Collins, both of Isom, and Glenna Sizemore of Thornton; a brother, Sidney Hensley of Indiana; a sister, Vina Lucas of Thornton; 11 grandchildren, and 25 great-grandchildren.
