Funeral services were held Sunday in Whitesburg for a 44-year-old Floyd County man whose body was found late last Thursday afternoon in the bathroom of a store at Neon Junction.
Ricky Collins appears to have hanged himself in the bathroom of the Neon Dollar General Store, said Letcher County Deputy Sheriff Joshua Pease.
Pease said he was dispatched to the store at about 4:20 p.m. Thursday after employees there reported that an “unresponsive” man had been in the bathroom for some time. Letcher County Sheriff Danny Webb said Collins is a Floyd County resident who had been staying in the Neon area. He has relatives in the Sandlick area, Webb said.
Deputy Pease said the store’s video surveillance shows Collins entering the bathroom alone. He was pronounced dead by Letcher County Coroner Renee Campbell, who ordered Collins’s body sent to Frankfort for autopsy.
Collins was a son of Harold Bolen and the late Shelia Collins Ritchie.
Surviving in addition to his father are seven brothers, Ronnie Ritchie and wife Melinda of Sandlick, Waford Bolen, Orland Bolen, and Eligah Bolen, all of Somerset, Levi Bolen, Carl Bolen, and Chad Bolen, all of Floyd County; three sisters, Jeanette Ritchie and Toby Adams, Melinda Cornett and husband Willie of Sandlick, and Darnell Bolen of London; niece, Stephanie Adams and husband Cody; and nephew, Vincent Shell.
Letcher Funeral Home, Whitesburg, had charge of arrangements.
