Funeral services for Mary Lou ‘Nan’ Combs, 84, of Louisville, were held January 21 at Letcher Independent Baptist Church. Burial was in Burton Hill Cemetery at Letcher.
Born at Carbon Glow, she was a daughter of the late Herbert and Vina Banks. She was the widow of Orville Combs, the mother of the late Gary Randall Combs, and a sister of the late Mallie Hobbs, Herbert Banks Jr., Everett Banks, William Banks, and Eugene Banks.
She died January 18 at Norton Suburban Hospital in Louisville.
She attended Stuart Robinson School and then moved to Baltimore, Md., to make war supplies during World War II. After her marriage, she moved to Inez where she lived until the death of her husband in 1967, when she returned to Letcher County. She moved to Louisville in 2001.
She was a member of Letcher Independent Baptist Church.
Sur viving are two daughters, Francine Caudill, Jeremiah, and Donna Frazier and husband Lyle, Louisville; three sisters, Cinda Adams, London; Helen Upshaw, Oklahoma City, Okla., and Betty Ann Williams, Indiana; five grandchildren, Theresa Bentley and husband Adam, William Caudill, Amanda Hall and husband Jason, Anthony Caudill, and Orville Combs and wife Jackie; and five great-grandchildren, Cierra Brooke Bentley, Gary Randall Combs, Blake Anthony Caudill, Charlie Dolores Hall and Bristol Lou Combs.
