Rites held for Palmer Bentley



Funeral services for Palmer Bentley Jr., 82, were held April 20 in Jenkins. Burial was in the Jenkins- Payne Gap Cemetery.

A son of the late Palmer Sr. and Ella Virginia Blevins Bentley, he was the father of the late Kenneth Wayne Bentley; a brother of the late James E. Bentley, Phillip L. Bentley, Gerald Bentley, Roger Bentley and Marlene Bentley; and a grandfather of the late Scott Andrew Mullins. He died April 18.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, and a member of the Fraternal Order of Police Post #50, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #9600, and American Legion Post #66.

He is survived by his wife of almost 65 years, Reba Jeanette Bentley; two sons, Gregory Palmer Bentley and wife Lynn, and William Keith Bentley and wife Tonya, all of Payne Gap; a daughter, Sherry Lynn Mullins and husband Johnny, Payne Gap; five granddaughters, Leslie Conley and husband Mike, Pamela Mullins and fiancé Mike Caudill, Keiley Bentley, Alexandria Bates and Brittney Mullins; two grandsons, Kole Bentley and Klint Bentley; two greatgranddaughters, Courtney Mullins and Laikyn Bentley; a great- grandson, Lucas Bentley; a sister, Sharon Whitaker and husband Russell; and a brother, Billy Ray Bentley and wife Jean.
