Patsy Ann Bowen, 82, died October 19 at Whitesburg Appalachian Regional Hospital.
Born in Cumberland to the late Henry Harrison and Herma Stamper Fields, she was the widow of Ben F. Bowen and a sister of the late Rudell Breeding, Carolyn Frazier and David M. Fields.
She was graduated from Whitesburg High School, and held a teaching degree from Lindenwood College in St. Louis, Mo. She was a classroom teacher before becoming the supervisor of the Title 1 Reading Program for the Letcher County Board of Education.
She was a member of the Graham Memorial Presbyterian Church and had been a soloist for many years in their choir, and was a member of Kappa Gamma Delta Educational Sorority and the Whitesburg ARH Auxiliary.
Surviving are two stepchildren, Jenny Eversole and husband Bill of Austin, Tex., and Benjamin Bowen of Knoxville, Tenn.; two sisters-in-law, Zoe Fields of Winchester and LaRue Breeding of Somerset; three nieces, Cheryl Webb and husband Cossie of Shelbyville, Marsha Howard and husband Hillard of The Villages, Fla., and Rachel Breeding of Whitesburg; seven nephews, Gerald Frazier and wife Jackie, Rokie Frazier and wife Joyce, Doug Frazier and wife Janie, all of Whitesburg, Sam Frazier and wife Jenny of Shelbyville, Rickie Fields and wife Margie of Mt. Sterling, Davey Fields, and Rodney Fields and wife Ketsy of Winchester; 16 great-nieces and nephews; and friends Betty Watts of Blackey and Sharon Adams of Jeremiah.
Funeral services were held October 22 at Letcher Funeral Home in Whitesburg. Burial was in Fields Cemetery at Whitesburg.
