Raymond Lee Polly, 90, died October 26 at his home in Greenville, Ind.
Born in Whitesburg, he was a son of the late Milburn Polly and Sillar Reynolds Polly. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Ralph Dorlan Polly.
Mr. Polly was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, and served on the USS Macon during the Korean War. He held a Master’s of Education degree, was a graduate of Eastern Kentucky University, and was an educator for 32 years with the New Albany Floyd County School Corporation.
Surviving are his children, Milburn B. Polly, Riley S. Polly and Marta L. Polly Holmes; a grandson, John Michael Carter and wife Shyann; great-grandchildren, Benjamin Carter and Olivia Carter; a sister, Helen Bierie and husband James; and a niece, Polly Bok and husband Jeff.
The family will hold a private memorial and requests that any expressions of sympathy be directed to one of Mr. Polly’s favorite charities, the New Albany Floyd County Animal Shelter or the ASPCA.
