Rites held for Ruth Dollarhide


Funeral services for Ruth Dollarhide, 72, were held December 17 at the Calvary Temple Church of God at Sandlick. Burial was in the Sturgill Cemetery at Cowan.

A daughter of the late Carmel Boggs Sturgill, she was born in Letcher County. She died December 13 at Whitesburg Appalachian Regional Hospital.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Odell Dollarhide.

Mrs. Dollarhide enjoyed going to church, cooking, and beach trips.

Surviving are two sons, Duane Dollarhide and wife Melissa of Potters Fork, and Chris Dollarhide and wife Becky of Smoot Creek; two daughters, Michelle Sexton and husband David of Little Colley, and Amy Taylor of UZ; two brothers Darrell Sturgill of Cowan, and Enoch Sturgill of North Carolina; 11 grandchildren, Katie Short, Olivia Wagner, Amanda Boggs, Corey Dollarhide, Mallory Fields, Jacob Dollarhide, Dalton Dollarhide, Caleb Dollarhide, Tyler Sexton, Jordan Taylor and Emily Taylor; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Everidge Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.
