Funeral services for Sam D. Potter, 66, of Hemphill, were held April 1 at Hemphill Baptist Church. Burial was in the Dishman family cemetery at Hemphill.
Born in Letcher County, he was a son of the late John and Rosie Tolliver Potter, the father of the late Jeanette Potter and Sandra Potter, and a brother of the late George Henry Potter.
He died March 28 at Pikeville Medical Center.
Surviving are his wife, Barbara Dishman Potter; three sons, Derrick Potter and wife Michelle of Hazard, Glendal Johnson and wife Sheila of Jasper, Ala., and Samuel Potter and wife Tina of Detroit, Mich.; three daughters, Samantha Amburgey and husband Jonathan, Tina Switzer and husband Faubus of Bardstown, and Virtie Kirby and husband Danny of Richmond; three sisters, Betty Joe Bentley of Hemphill, Reba Green of Payne Gap, and Phyllis Bentley of Hemphill; a brother, Melvin Potter of McRoberts; a friend, Felicia Smith; and 14 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
