Rites held for Sammy Hall



Funeral services for Sammy “Sam” Wallace Hall, 67, were held December 11 in Maysville. Burial was in MaysLick Cemetery.

He died December 8 at Kenton Pointe Care Center in Maysville.

A son of the late Sam and Flora Quillen Hall, he was a graduate of Jenkins High School and received a bachelor’s degree and master’s degree from Morehead State University.

He taught in Maysville City Schools and became a principal at Maysville Junior High in 1972 and at Maysville High School in 1983.

Mr. Hall was an associate principal at Mason County High School and principal at Mason County Middle School, and was an administrator in Mason County Central Office, interim principal at Bracken County High School and Bracken County Director of Pupil Administrators.

Surviving are his wife, Karen Slucher Hall; a son, Keith A. Hall and wife Leah of Prospect; a stepson, Micah D. Amstutz and wife Allison of Maysville; a stepdaughter, Wendi D. Lenard and husband Keith of Wyandotte, Mich.; four grandchildren, Baleigh Gilvin, Mackenzie Amstutz, Rory Falkenberg and Wesley Lenard; a brother, Steven D. Hall of Whitesburg; and his mother-in-law, Lucile Wiborn of MaysLick.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Ava Jean Hall Baker and Phyllis Ann Hall Williams.
