Rites held for Thomas Ray Day

THOMAS RAY DAY

Thomas Ray Day, 64, of Nashville, Ind., died, July 4 at Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient.

Born in Whitesburg to the late John L. and Violet Jones Day, he was a brother of the late Elwood Day, Clyde Day, Fred Day, Douglas Day, Katy Lou Day and Raven Palazzolo.

Retiring in 1999, he worked for 34 years at Cummins Engine Company, where he served as a union board member for the OCU for office hourly employees.

He also held the offices of Chief Area Representative, Vice President and President of the OCU.

He was a member of Christiansburg United Methodist Church.

Surviving are his wife of 45 years, Geraldine Day; a daughter, Valerie Houpey and husband Matthew of Westport, Ind.; a son Darrick Day and wife Genevieve of Nashville, Ind.; grandchildren, Cheyenne and Tommy Houpey of Westport, Ind., and Violet Day of Nashville, Ind.; three brothers, Wayne McDougal and wife Charlett of Kentucky, Pryor Day and wife Maria of Texas, and Rayburn Day and wife Karen of Virginia; a sister, Serena Smith and husband Charlie of Columbus; and two sisters-in-law, Jean Day of Columbus, Ind., and Violet Day of Kentucky.

Funeral services were held July 7 in Columbus, Ind. Cremation followed the service.
