Rites held for Treston Hughes

Treston Hughes, 21, of Partridge, died May 31 in an accident in Louisville.

He was the son of Charles Hughes of Hazard and Marsha Shepherd Hughes of Partridge.

He was graduated from Letcher Central High School where he made a 35 on his ACT and played saxophone in the band.

Mr. Hughes had been accepted to the University of Virginia-Wise to become a biochemist.

Surviving in addition to his parents are his grandparents, Betty Brock and husband Glen, Waynard Hughes, Dorothy Shepherd, and Claude Shepherd; his stepmother, Patricia Hughes; two brothers, Landon Hughes of Partridge and Ronnie Noplis of Richmond; two sisters, Sophia Noplis of California and Brandi Noplis of Richmond; aunts and uncles, Charles and Tammy Blair of Partridge, and Timothy and Angela Back and Amy Shepherd, all of Cumberland; and cousins, Breanna Miles, Shelby Carter, Zoey Blair and Zachary Blair.

Funeral services for Mr. Hughes were held June 14 at Letcher Funeral Home in Whitesburg.
