Velma O. Trivette, 72, of Jackhorn, died April 4 at Whitesburg Appalachian Regional Hospital.
Born in Pike County, she was the daughter of the late Gordon and Zetta Maynard and the widow of Maurice Trivette. She was a grandmother of the late Christie Trivette.
She was a retired schoolteacher and had earned a bachelor’s degree in special education from Pikeville College and a master’s degree from Morehead State University. She was a member of the Neon Church of Christ and the Kentucky Retired Teachers Association.
Surviving are three daughters, Kathy French, Albion, Mich., Elizabeth Williams, McRoberts, and Dr. Brenda Baker, Neon; three sons, Gordon Trivette, Zebulon, Dr. M. Michael Trivette, Meta, and Richard Trivette, Raccoon Creek; 17 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held April 8 in Zebulon. Burial was in the Maynard family cemetery at Brushy.
