Funeral services for Jo Evelyn Holyfield Spangler, 62, will be held at 1 p.m. today (January 18) in Whitesburg. Burial will be in the Spangler Cemetery.
Born in Wise, Va., she was a daughter of the late Jo Ann Holyfield Charles and Theodore Holyfield. Also preceding her in death were her stepfather, Edgar Charles, and three brothers, Douglas Holyfield, Joseph Sherman Holyfield and Larry Mitchell Holyfield.
She died January 15 at Pikeville Medical Center after a long illness.
Mrs. Spangler was a member of the Stateline Apostolic Church, Ladies’ Auxiliary of Douglas Day American Legion Post 152, and The Future Business Leaders of America. After graduation from the Letcher County Vocational School, she worked for Traveler’s Insurance Agency in Jenkins.
Surviving are a son, Richard Spangler and wife Tressa of Little Robinson Creek; a daughter, Kelly Spangler of Whitesburg; a sister, Sylvia Skotnicki of Ecorse, Mich.; four grandchildren, Alexandria Bolling of Mayking, Keesha Corbiere and Brice Spangler, both of Little Robinson Creek, and Albany Spangler of Whitesburg; three nieces; and four nephews.
