Road dedicated in honor of late fire chief, son




 

 

ROAD DEDICATED — Raspberry Lane in Craft’s Colly has been dedicated in memory of a former Whitesburg fire chief and in honor of his son by the Letcher Fiscal Court. U.S. Army veteran Remious Day, Sr. served in World War II and was fire chief in Whitesburg from 1946 until he died in 1966. His son, Remious Day, Jr., is a U.S. Army veteran who served in Vietnam. Pictured during the road dedication on Dec. 9 are Raymond Day, Lorraine Day Ellis, Ethel Day and Remious Day Jr. Ethel Day is Remious Day, Sr.’s widow. Lorraine Day Ellis and Raymond Day are also the children of Ethel Day and the late Remious Day, Sr.
