Funeral services for Roger Dale Adams, 71, of Whitesburg, were held November 16 at Everidge Funeral Home. Burial was in the Bill Adams Cemetery at Colson.
A son of the late Jack and Virda Breeding Adams, he was born at Colson. He died November 14 at Whitesburg Appalachian Regional Hospital.
Mr. Adams was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War and was the recipient of two Purple Hearts and two Bronze Stars.
Surviving are his wife, Beverly Hatton Adams; a son, Warren Dale Adams of Pikeville; two adopted sons, Thurman Bumgarden of Pikeville, and Tim Reed of Isom; three brothers, Jerry Adams and wife Diane and Mike Adams, all of Isom, and Doug Adams and wife Vivian of Morristown, Tenn.; and five sisters, Jackie Adams, June Collins and husband T.J. and Kaye Collins and husband Manuel, all of Isom, Phyliss Sturgill and husband Terry of Elizabethtown, and Brenda Fields and husband Gary of Pikeville.
Mr. Adams was preceded in death by a brother, Steve Adams, and his grandparents, Bill and Martha Adams.
