I have some information about Letcher County that I would like to share.
Last fall my husband and I traveled with a tour group from Tennessee, Virginia and North Carolina, to South Dakota to visit Mount Rushmore, Crazy Horse, and several of the other attractions offered by that part of the U.S.
Our daily excursions were full of activities, and at the end of each day we were exhausted. To unwind and relax we would purchase the USA Today and settle down to read. My favorite section was the one that gives a summary of what was happening in each state.
Imagine my surprise and pleasure when I read the following under the Kentucky title:
“Isom: Five antique shops scattered on a 4-mile stretch of Route 7 are beginning to attract out-oftown collectors. Gwen’s County Attic, Addie’s Treasures, All in One Basket, Foolish Pleasures and Delana’s Little Shoppe, make up Route 7 Antique Alley.”
Since my childhood was on Route 7 in the Twin Bridge community, I was so pleased to read about the success of these antique shops and I do know from experience that the area is full of antiques which have been passed down from generation to generation.
What a wonderful area in which to have these successful antique shops.
