By the time this hits the stands a new school year will be started. I hope all students have a good, prosperous school year and are safe getting on and off the school buses. Please, let’s all be extra careful driving in the mornings and evenings during school bus times.
Roy Culp has had his surgery and is doing very well. He was doing so well that he didn’t have to go to Letcher Manor for therapy. He will just have outpatient physical therapy. Barbara had surgery for a torn meniscus in her knee. Her sister Kitty and her husband came in to take care of Roy and Barb for a few days.
We attended Friday evening’s meeting of the Adam, Thompson, Blair reunion. The crowd has gone down from years past due to deaths, declining health and the busy lives of the family and friends who used to attend.
Ila Adams was able to make it and wants all to pray for her son Laramie who has been so sick for such a long time.
Our prayers also go out to Bennett and Linda Combs’s son David, who has been having health problems. Prayers also for Lois Blair, Wendell Calhoun, Missy Adams Slone and Wilma Pridemore. Wilma is scheduled for a knee replacement. She and Lee had quite a few family and friends stop in for a cookout and visit last week. Ford Pridemore came up from Lexington. Roy Kenon and Billie Jean Smith came in from Ohio and then some of us hometown folks, too. Gary and Becky Pridemore have enjoyed spending time with the grandchildren this summer.
This weekend was the regular meeting time of Mount Olivet Church at Blackey. They had a good weekend of services with a large crowd on Sunday. It was also their communion on Sunday.
“Buck”, Debbie and Emily Adams brought Irene Caudill Jent in from Indiana to attend the services. Irene is doing very well and getting stronger with therapy.
Our sympathy goes out to the families of Ed Lumpkins and Eugene “Bub” Watts, who died since last week’s paper came out. Also, to Coleman and Brenda Smith’s family, who lost a grandson in a motorcycle accident in Tennessee. His mother was Missy. We’re so sorry for the entire family.
Sympathy also to the family of Patsy Craft, who died in Morehead.
Ivan and Freda Adams had a visit from her brother Bartley, of Florida. He stayed quite a few days with them.
Densmore and Colleen Goodson spent a few days fishing at Barren River State Park and looked like they caught some good bass.
Belated birthday wishes to Lillie Moss Hale and Kathy Cornett.
Hope Susan Ison can adjust to retirement — more time for the grandkids.
Sorry if I forgot news. I should have written, but that’s all I have time for now.
