Santa Claus is coming early to Letcher County

Big Cowan

A big thank you to Johnny Collier and Roger Eldridge for replacing a heat bulb to keep the water from freezing up while Eddie Wolfe was recuperating in the hospital and Kathy recuperating at home. Eddie came home Friday and has Home Health Care helping with bandages and IV’s. A big thanks to all who visited them when they were in the hospital.

I made a mistake in last week’s paper. Linda and Rick Polly will be married 35 years (not 37) on Dec. 26. Sorry, guys!

My sympathy goes out to my cousin. She lost her baby on Dec. 9. My heart goes out to her and her family. They are devastated so please keep them in your prayers. She has a five-year-old daughter at home and this baby was a little girl. So sorry for your loss.

On Dec. 21 at 6 p.m., the Freewill Baptist Church at Whitco will be having a play and would like for everyone to attend.

It is almost time for Santa’s truck train to be making its way through Letcher County. I think it will be the 22nd, 23rd, and 24th. So all you little boys and girls, mark your calendars and be watching. And be good for good- ness sake ’cause Santa Claus will be watching you!

Charles Hammonds called from North Vernon, Ind. He had surgery on Dec. 10 at Lawrenceburg, Ind., and came home Dec. 11. The surgery went well. He told me that his friend, John Combs of Sandlick, has had a really bad cough. Please remember him in prayer. His dad was Ishamel Combs on Sandlick. He walked the railroad tracks every day to Whitesburg. If he was still alive it would probably be safer to walk the tracks today than to be on the busy highway.

Sorry to hear that Mickey Helton’s mom died. Our sympathy goes to the family. Also, Harding Ison was found dead in his car in front of his house on Kingdom Come Dec. 12. Our sympathy goes out to his family.

There is so much sickness and death. We need to thank God every day that we are still alive and well.

A late happy 34th birthday to Chris Adams on Dec. 12. He is the son of Emma and George Adams and is a professor in Kingsport, Tenn. Hope you had a good one, Chris. I know your mom and dad are proud of you.
