Hello everyone. I hope all had a good week. There’s still no snow and the weather has been pretty good. Christmas is almost here, ready or not. Santa will soon be here. I hope all of you have been good this year, or you will be buying your own Christmas presents.
My granddaughter Ashley had surgery recently. Please keep her in your prayers.
I’m sorry to hear that Elijah Sandlin died this past week. He and his wife Jean were both in the hospital in Lexington, and she is still in bad health. Remember her and the rest of the family in your prayers.
Elijah was a very good man and loved the Lord. He was a preacher, singer, father, husband, grandpa and friend, and he will be missed by all who knew him. He fought a good fight and ran a good race. Now he has gone to be with the Lord and get his reward. We will miss you, old buddy.
He was the father-in-law of my cousin, Joe Maggard. Our sympathy goes out to you, Joe, and your daughter also and her mother. It has to be hard for all of you.
Amber, Colton and Brad Jackson all went to Troy, Oh., a few weeks ago. Brad’s sister, Jessica had a baby girl born on Dec. 1 at 4:49 p.m. She weighed 7 pounds, 11 ounces. She is also welcomed home by her dad, Jarryd Nicholson. They live in Troy, Oh., and Colton was glad to meet his new cousin, Kamryn Sky Nicholson. She is a cutie.
George Allen Adams of Cowan will be 60 years old on Dec. 24. Maybe Emma and Chris will take him out for dinner. Happy birthday, George.
Christmas Day is the birthday of our Savior. Remember Him on this day. He is the reason for the season.
My cousin Barbara Ann Boggs will be 75 on Dec. 25. A very happy birthday to her at Letcher Manor, and may God bless her.
Charles Miles will be 68 years old Dec. 25. Happy birthday to him.
Dasia Rae Fields will be sweet 16 on Dec. 26. She is the daughter of Kim and Roger Hoskins, and the granddaughter of Archie and Margaret Fields of Cowan and Lucille Collins of Indiana.
I remember when Dasia was born. As soon as I got the news my husband James and granddaughter Ashley, who was 3 at the time, and myself, all came to Whitesburg Hospital to see her. She had a splint on her arm.
Ashley was tickled to death to hold the new baby. She was beautiful then and beautiful now. Happy birthday, Dasia, we love you. Big Cowan
Rick and Linda Polly will be married 38 years Dec. 26. Happy anniversary to both of you.
My sister-in-law Margaret Pack Fields will be 54 on Dec. 29. Happy birthday and we love you.
Marie Johnson Boyd in Dante, Va., still wants to thank everyone for praying for her. She has come a long way, but still needs our prayers.
Dec. 21 my ‘better half’ and I were married 42 years. I never thought we would be together that long. I guess I met my soulmate. We have been together too long, and I am too old to train another one, so I guess I will keep him.
As the old saying goes, “You can’t live with them and you can’t live without them, and you sure can’t shoot them.” So we are together forever. Love you, James.
Congratulations to Maria and Donald Ratliff, who were married one year on Dec. 18. I hope you have many more together. Also, Cathy and Keith Boggs were married 29 years on Dec. 18. Late happy anniversary wishes to all of you.
Colton Whitaker turns 5 years old on Dec. 29. Happy birthday, buddy.
The Santa Truck will be coming down Cowan on Dec. 23. I know a lot of kids will be happy to see Santa and receive gifts.
Marty Fields and Dasia Fields celebrated their birthdays together on Saturday, Dec. 17, at the home of Juanita and Marty Smith. Archie and Margaret Fields (Marty’s grandparents) and his grandma, Lucille Collins from Greensburg, Ind., was present. She is staying for a few weeks to help Juanita out. Keep Juanita in your prayers.
Well, until next time have a merry Christmas, pray for someone and attend the church of your choice. God loves you.
