Organizers of the “Christmas In Our Hometown” event have announced that Santa Claus will be in a different location after the parade in Whitesburg Friday night.
Instead of being at the Letcher County Health Department as originally announced, Santa can be found after the parade on Dec. 9 around 6 p.m. inside Dr. Bill Collins Rural Health building on East Main Street, which is located beside the health department.
Main Street will be blocked off to traffic at 4 p.m. and lineup for the parade will begin at 4:30 p.m. near Everidge Funeral Home. The parade will start at 5 p.m.
Letcher County Court Clerk Winston Meade is the grand marshal of the Christmas parade.
Musical entertainment as well as a petting zoo, pony rides and the Mountain Shrine Club train will be located near city hall after the parade. A live nativity scene presented by Pentecostal Bread of Life Church will be on display.
The event is co-sponsored by Letcher County Kids’ Day Committee and the City of Whitesburg.
