SCHOLARSHIP







— Heather Dawn Blair (left) is the recipient of the fall Meryl Brown Rotary Scholarship. She is the daughter of Ronny and Gloria Turner of Haysi, Va., and lives in Letcher County with her husband, Mark. She completed an associate degree in radiological science in 1995 from Southeast Virginia Community College and a bachelor of science degree in nursing in 2011 from the University of Virginia’s College at Wise, and is pursuing a master’s degree in the health field concentration of family nurse practitioner at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Va. She has worked in the health care field for the past 16 years and is working as a registered nurse while continuing her education. The scholarship is a $500 award given each semester to a Letcher County resident, based on achievement, character and need. Presenting the award was Whitesburg Rotary Club President Margaret Hammonds.
