Scholarships awarded to eight





 

 

The Mountain Heritage Festival Committee in conjunction with Kentucky Power Company presented eight $250 scholarships for 2018.

Those receiving scholarships are Lindsay Bentley, Whitney Scott, Brooke King, Savannah Parsons, Meghan Combs and Brooke Saurer, who are 2018 graduates of Letcher County Central High School; Makayla Briggs, who is a 2018 Jenkins High School graduate; and Racheal Runyon, who is a student at the Galen College of Nursing in Hazard.

Lindsay Bentley is the daughter of Dewey and Elizabeth Bentley of Jenkins. She plans to attend Southeast Kentucky Community and Technical College.

Whitney Scott is the daughter of Anthony Scott and Geronda Isaac of Deane. She plans to attend Southeast Kentucky Community and Technical College.

Brooke King is the daughter of Margaretta Ann King of Jeremiah. She plans to attend Eastern Kentucky University.

Savannah Parsons is the daughter of Paul Kevin and Leslie Parsons of Whitesburg. She plans to attend the University of Virginia’s College at Wise.

Meghan Combs is the daughter of David and Tammie Combs of Whitesburg. She plans to attend Alice Lloyd College.

Brooke Saurer is the daughter of James and Valerie Saurer of Partridge. She will attend the University of Kentucky.

Makayla Briggs is the daughter of Richard and Gail Briggs of Jenkins. She plans to attend the Jenny Lea Academy.

Racheal Runyon is the daughter of William and Kathy Runyon of Whitesburg. She is attending the Galen College of Nursing.
