The Letcher County Public Schools will return to all virtual classes on Tuesday after the county slipped back into the critical range for Covid-19 cases.
The county went back into the red on Saturday with an incident rate of 25.2 per 100,000. Superintendent Denise Yonts said if the rate increased again on Monday, she would make a decision on closing schools again without waiting for the Thursday report.
As of 4 p.m. Monday, the rate had increased to 28.5 per 100,000.
The district cancelled in-person classes about 6 p.m. Monday.
