Scrubs camp set

The Southeast Kentucky Area Health Education Center in conjunction with Southeast Kentucky Community and Technical College will host a three-day Letcher County Summer Scrubs Camp for students interested in pursuing a career in healthcare. The camp will take place July 16- 18 at Whitesburg Appalachian Regional Hospital and is open to students who will be enrolled in high school in the fall of 2008. Eligible students must have at least a 2.5 grade point average and, if accepted, must supply proof of recent tuberculosis skin test and MMR immunizations. Space is limited. Deadline for applications is May 16.

The camp will give students the opportunity to observe and shadow healthcare professionals at work. They will complete hands-on and interactive activities. Participants will take a “behind the scenes” hospital tour and will speak with doctors, nurses, radiography techs, respiratory techs, and others to discuss career choices.

For more information or to apply, contact Tiffany B. Scott, health career program coordinator, (606) 589-3198, tscott0024@kctcs.edu.
