Hello everyone, from all of us at the Ermine Senior Citizen Center.

We have been enjoying ourselves at the center. We just completed our sixweek program with chronic disease self-management program. We thank everyone for participating and we learned a lot of helpful information.

It was so good to have Martha Harris come visit us at our center. She even brought us a homemade chocolate cake. She is such a blessing to each and every one of us, a fine lady that we all love very much.

We want to thank MCHC for the health fair they had. We got a lot of health information and gifts, and the seniors really had a great time.

We got to take a couple of trips. We went to Wise, Va., to a health fair. We played Bingo, but we didn’t win any prizes. We had a good day and met some wonderful friends.

We also went to the Norton Best Friend Festival. We played Bingo and won a lot of prizes and had fun. We had a wonderful day out.

We just celebrated with a walk down memory lane, the 2014 prom for all the seniors. We had it at the new Jenkins Senior Citizens building and it sure is a beautiful place.

Carl Parrott was named the Ermine Senior Citizens Center King of the 2014 seniors prom, and Debbie Miranda Bradley was named Queen.

We sure want to thank Judge Jim Ward and all his staff. They cooked the lunch for everyone and it was wonderful.

The seniors celebrated with looking at old pictures that had been taken over the years. A thank you to Trenda Kincer and Eunice Mullins for getting them all together. The seniors really enjoyed remembering back over all those years.

Each center picked a 2014 King and Queen. Ermine King was Carl Parrott, Ermine Queen was Debbie Miranda Bradley; Jenkins King was John Smith, Jenkins Queen was Mary Pritcher; Kingscreek Queen was Eula Miller; Blackey King was Lonzo Caudill, Blackey Queen was Linda Jones; Ovenfork Queen was Linda Curry; Hemphill Queen was Doris Miller.

Our prom was a great success. We gave away a lot of door prizes.

We want to say a special thank you to each and every one who helped out. It was very much appreciated.

So, always remember if you are 60 years old or older, you’re always welcome at any or our six centers, Ermine, Blackey, Kingscreek, Ovenfork, Jenkins or Hemphill. We have lunch at 11 a.m.

So until next time, be safe and have a wonderful week.
