With heavy hearts the participants of the Fleming Neon Senior Citizens Program met on Dec. 31, 2015 for lunch and fellowship with the beloved staff of the program. Twentyeight seniors were present to bid farewell to the county-funded program and to express love and appreciation to the laborers in the program. The staff has become extended family to the elders. Tears flowed freely at the close of the day. Friendships forged during this program will be continued as we at Hemphill Community Center are determined to supply whatever we can to continue accommodations for the seniors.
Schedule of events:
Jan. 5 at 10 a.m. Folks over 60 are invited to come to Hemphill Community Center beginning this Tuesday as we decide how to proceed in fellowship and breaking bread together.
Jan. 8 at 7:30 p.m. The Country Troubadours will return for their first show of 2016. Their sound is a bodacious honkytonk sound with a sprinkling of rockabilly. This band is a favorite at our place and you will greatly enjoy an evening dancing or just listening to this great group. Come on and visit us. We will be real glad to have you with us!
